SCREENINGS & RECOGNITION • First Screening: North Virginia Community College, USA (Cultural Exchange Programme, 2007) • Kolkata International Film Festival, 2007 SYNOPSIS: The documentary film “With the Promise of Life” portrays the humane and meaningful connection between Jadavpur University and society. The students of the university go beyond their academic pursuits and actively engage in social service initiatives, reaching out to various sections of society with compassion and responsibility. Through the platform of the National Service Scheme (NSS), the university’s own social service organisation, students participate in a wide range of activities such as AIDS awareness campaigns in red-light areas, literacy drives, and slum welfare programs. The film highlights these initiatives and showcases the dedication of students who consistently strive to uplift the underprivileged and contribute to the welfare of society.
