dc.descriptionMaharaja Suryakanta Acharya Chowdhuri was born in Muktagachha in Mymensingh. During the movement against the Partition of Bengal and in subsequent nationalist agitations, he helped the revolutionaries in countless ways. His donations funded many educational institutions and hospitals. A member of the Trustee Board of the National Council of Education, Bengal, he directed its course as Vice-Chairman from 1906 to 1908. On 14 August 1906, he attended the inaugural ceremony, held at Calcutta Town Hall, of Bengal National College, an institution of which he was one of the shaping spirits.en_US
