| Abstract: | Remediation of pollutants is a concerning topic for current environmental scenario. remediation is a control against pollutants to prevent the damage of the environment using nano-catalyst. alumina supported titanium catalysts (0.5 wt.%,1 wt.%,1.5 wt.%, 2 wt.%) were prepared by excess solution impregnation on alumina oxide support and used for catalytic wet air oxidation (CWAO) of oxalic acid. the oxidation of oxalic acid was performed in a three-neck round bottom glass reactor with a capacity of 1 L. The reactions were conducted by Ti/γ-Al2O3 catalysts under different process conditions, such as temperature from 600c to 900c and pressure from 1 bar to 15 bar, flow-rate is 1 L/min and Ti loading from 0.5 to 2.5 wt.%. the oxalic acid conversion (88.29%) was achieved using the Ti/γ-Al2O3 catalyst at 900C and 1.0 wt.% Ti metal loading. The influence of the titanium sintering (reducing treatment) was studied to modify the oxygen transfer from the gas phase onto the metallic active site of the catalyst and also to determine the effect of this treatment on the catalytic activity and stability. The activation energy for oxalic acid conversion was found to be 73.01 kJ mol-1 at the temperature range 60-900C. The support and catalysts were characterized by using different techniques such as BET, TGA. Here the alumina supported catalyst are used because it increased the catalyst activity and selectivity. (Ti/γ-Al2O3) catalyst are used for the remediation of environmental pollutants because of its low cost and easy availability to the market, high surface area, high pore diameter, high melting point and thermal stability. |
