Abstract: Water scarcity has become a critical global concern exacerbated by population growth, globalization, and industrial expansion, resulting in the production of wastewater containing a wide variety of contaminants. To tackle this challenge, it is necessary to adopt innovative materials and technologies for effective wastewater treatment. This thesis paper provides a comprehensive exploration of the preparation, applications, mechanisms, and economic environmental analysis of plastic char and its various forms in wastewater treatment. The utilization of plastic char in wastewater treatment, particularly in adsorption is thoroughly investigated. The significance of plastic char in adsorption of pollutants such as dye, pharmaceuticals and organics are examined. In this study, the pyrolysis of waste plastic was done in muffle furnace at a temperature of 550◦C for a time period of 3 hours. The paper primarily focuses on the adsorption of dye using two types of plastic char. One is plastic char annealed and other one is plastic char which is treated with NaOH and then annealed. By exploring the latest advancements and insights into various forms of plastic char and also using mixture of corn husk char and plastic char, this paper aims to contribute to the development of more efficient and sustainable wastewater treatment strategies.
