Title: Study of nitrogen doped reduced graphene oxide (rGO) for its potential application as a Glucose sensor
Authors: Samaddar, Koustav
Abstract: This work describes synthesizing porous nitrogen-doped reduced graphene oxide (N-rGO) via hydrothermal synthesis and it's application as non- enzymatic glucose sensor . Before that, graphene oxide (GO) was prepared using a modified version of Hummer's process. The crystallinity and phase have been verified with an XRD device. Morphological analysis using FESEM images confirms the porous nature. Conversely, comparisons of their UV-vis have been done to help determine the band gaps between GO and rGO. In this project, electrical (resistive) biosensor for glucose monitoring has been experienced. A comparison study of different layers, enzymatic interaction and their out has been carried for the rGO based devices. Here, alpha- glucose has been tested with the biosensor. After a layer-dependent experiment, it can be expressed from the I-V analysis 1layer rGO device has shown a better response than GOx+rGO-coated all devices.1L rGO-coated device also gives better response than 1L GOx+rGO and from LOD curve it can be clearly stated that 1 layer rGO coated device has better sensibility in all aspect.

Voltage dependent differentially grown zinc oxide nanowire based three terminal device for water quality monitoring

Title: Voltage dependent differentially grown zinc oxide nanowire based three terminal device for water quality monitoring
Authors: Kazi Wakar Hasan
Abstract: It is necessary to detect Heavy Metal Ions due to their toxic effects on the
environment and human health. Chromium(VI), Copper(II), Iron(II) and Nickel(III) ions pose
serious risks when present in above par concentrations in water sources, by contaminating
drinking water supplies, accumulating in ecosystems and have toxic effects on aquatic life.
Development of reliable and sensitive sensing devices for their detection is crucial for
effective monitoring, ensuring water safety and implementing appropriate remediation
strategies. This thesis focuses on the detection and analysis of specific heavy metal ions,
namely Chromium(VI), Copper(II), Iron(II) and Nickel(III) ions in water samples. The
material of choice for this study is Zinc Oxide, which exhibits favourable properties for
sensing applications. The Zinc Oxide Nanowire based Three Terminal Devices are prepared
under different Bias Voltages and their further characterization and heavy metal ion sensing is
done. The synthesized materials were characterized using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Field
Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM) and Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy
(DRS). The results of the sensing experiments demonstrated that the Zinc Oxide-based Three
Terminal Device has better response towards Chromium(VI), Copper(II), Nickel(III) ions but
not towards Iron(II) ions.
